Visiting India to Help Following the Tsunami
Around the age of 12, I found a calling and inspiration to help the world; I could not stop thinking everyday about all the ways I could help, but it was hard to come forth and act on this feeling. When I started high school, I had my first opportunity to work with a small community during Christmas to bring smiles to the children through love, hugs, music, and gifts. The joy and appreciation made me feel that true beauty in life, sharing love.
Today we, my family and I, will see for the first time the village which we have heard so much about, I am so excited to meet the people I can’t wait, I am blessed to share this extraordinary day. India is beautiful, the people are so kind, and I am truly blessed to be here.
This trip has already made a huge impact on my life. When I return home, I will be going to school during my spare time; I hope to take classes through the Red Cross to learn first aid. My goal is to become a nurse. I know it will take time but it will all be worth it. Whenever I can, I will devote myself to the world. It is hard to keep my hope alive but I can never underestimate the power of people. This is my reason to live.
