OKLAHOMA - HEART FOR THE HEARTLAND
|
August 2013We sent two Global Uplift volunteers to Oklahoma to provide assistance to the communities so badly devastated in the tornadoes and flooding. They got in touch with churches in the area who helped scope out the situation in advance. The churches also provided logistics as well as groups and individuals to talk with on the ground. They had $10,000 to use for the benefit of the communities there. However, our history is one of creativity and inventiveness: so our volunteers were able to find ways to meet the needs of those falling through the cracks and stretch the funding as far as possible. And as always the volunteers covered their own costs including travel so that 100% of the money donated went to those in need.
